Okay, so I'm a little embarrassed to post on here with all this great crocheted stuff so keep in mind I just learned how to crochet.  I've struggled with it off and on.  My mom works with a very sweet mentally handicapped lady who crochets and she tried to teach me and I just couldn't get it.  Till a few days ago, on my birthday I tried again and I guess I had magic birthday powers that day because I got it.  At least I think I got the concept of it.  I still can't read a pattern and I but I was practicing and I thought it was starting to look like something so I just went with it.   I guess I should have started with a scarf like normal people but I'm not very normal.  Anyways I'll stop rambling now, here she is:

By the way, if you see that I did something strange please feel free to let me know.

Wow, that's great, I wouldn't have known you'd just started. It really looks great. I love how the birdie has almost outgrown his nest (maybe he's scared to fly?).

That is so awesome! I cannot figure out how to crochet, I've tried and tried- maybe I should try on my birthday...

That's amazing for your first project. In fact, it's great period. Very cute.

Great job! I couldn't tell that it was your first project. I've tried crocheting but I'm just going to stick with knitting.

He smells good, he really does! He smells like root beer.

I absolutely hate the "Start with a scarf" concept. I like your first project way better.
I think it's great to start with something you love. And when learning to read patterns just go slowly. You don't have to get it all at once. I'm still new to crochet (almost a year now but that's not long) and I still don't get all the abbreviations and don't even get me started on graphs. lol.
The main thing to remember is to take it at your own pace and enjoy the process.
And it looks like you did. Because your little bird is adorable!

It's so cute! Smiley You did a great job!

I think it's great that you started with something you like.  I was like that when I first made a crochet project.  I was more motivated to learn crochet & read patterns with a project I like Smiley
