took me less than a month - and i work full time and have a couple of kids  who need attention occasionally

How long does this sweater take (on average)? I'm starting it soon, but wanted to get an idea.

It's taken me about 3 months and I've just started the sleeves - I do have a gazzilion other projects though so I rarely focus on one for too long.

It's come out about 10cms too small in diameter at the moment so it's on the naughty step...

I decided to plunge in. (Because I totally don't have any other projects waiting for completion.)

I'm only at about eighty stitches on circs, so not that far yet, but this is way easier than I thought it would be. It looked so complicated!

I have the body finished (YAY!). It took me a while to get the rounds after the armholes done because they. took. so. long. I got about halfway through sleeve 1 but I had to rip it out because it was too small.

I am half amazed at myself - I'm only a few rows away from the sleeve holes. In one day.

Clearly, heartbreak is good for productivity.

amyb444: i totally know what you mean about the rounds after the armholes.  they get crazy long.

well, my yarn for the sleeves came in the mail yesterday.  so if i wasn't working on my cheri amore so much i'd probably be almost done.  oh well.

I have enjoyed knitting this sweater, but I agree that the long rounds toward the end are getting monotonous. I took today off because my hands ached from hours and hours of going round and round at top speed. Thank goodness the Red Sox are on tonight to distract me from my plight. (Maybe I should make it for a smaller person and call it done, but I've come this far . . . )

wickedgoodknitter:  yes!  keep going!  I encourage you to do it because it is worth it in the end. and yes, distraction of tv, ipod, movies, baseball games, etc, are indeed needed!  good luck!

Thank you for the encouragement. I think I have about six rows to go. Even a five-hour Red Sox game couldn't bring me through the rest. (I put it down and fell asleep for about two innings, but awoke to see a 1:30 a.m. heartbreaking finish for us Red Sox fans.)

Enough about baseball. Opinion time, if you can picture this:  My sweater is knit in a series of graduated blues and greens, and ends with a round band of chocolate brown. Originally, I thought I'd knit the sleeves in the brown, but now that I see it, I think it might look more put together if they were knit in the same color yarn as the round from which they emerge, which is green (sage to be exact). (Does that make sense?) Anyone have thoughts on whether it would be more aesthetically pleasing to do it this way rather than going with the brown. I feel another trip to my LYS coming on, as if I make the switch I have too much brown and not enough green. However, after all the time put into this one, I don't want to utter the words, "I should have . . ." Thanks for any input!
