I received an awesome package from wootwoot! She painted a mirror with Matrioshka dolls using the perfect colors for my office (I'll show you later when I have it picked up a bit Tongue). She also made a little pin.

Here's the mirror. The little Matrioshka doll pin is on a piece of paper wedged into the middle.

And here's a close-up of her amazing painting job. Cheesy

Thanks so much, wootwoot!! I love it all.

I'm glad you like it, novastarlet!  I haven't painted anything in forever, so this was fun.  I might have to do more of those little mirrors (from Ikea, of course Smiley )

I received a great package from suzukibeane, and will posts pics soon (my batteries are never charged when I need them Undecided )

I received from a_heart_apart! She sent me five Matrioshka cards, a set of nesting boxes (the innermost is a block), a necklace and ear rings! The stylized Matrioshka on Japanese paper look fabulous!

Thanks again!  This has been a fun swap! Grin

I have photos of the cards I made you, which I can post if you'd like, but forgot to photograph the dolls.  Undecided

(wootwoot's painted Matrioshki are adorable. Smiley)

Here's what I got from suzukibeane33!  I mentioned that I preferred more traditional looking matrioshka as opposed to the cute ones (though I like them both) and just look at the beautiful fabric she used on this pouch she made for me:

Inside (because it was nested, of course Smiley ) was this pretty altoid tin (to add to my tin collection)

And inside that was this great magnet:

Thanks so much, suzukibeane!  I love it!

That fabric is great, suzukibeane33. I'd love to see a wide shot of the pouch. Smiley

I should have thought of nesting things like that. Geesh, it seems so obvious now. Tongue

I'm glad you like everything WootWoot!  My friends sometimes wonder why I spend so much time making things for complete strangers, but then when I received my package from novastarlet, they completely understood how nice it is to give and receive a beautiful handmade gift to someone who will really appreciate it!

Everything I received looks super-professional- I have no idea how you get such perfect stitches on your appliques!  I also happened to really be wanting some pouches for tampons, makeup, my bike repair kit... and now I have two!  Anyway, without further ado- the pics!:

Me and my matrioshka grinning ear to ear after receiving the pillow:

I'm already using this pouch and still am in awe of all the detailing (unfortunately it's a little hard to see because of the flash, but I hope you can still see the beads, the little eyes, the embroidered hair :

Second pouch opened to show the lining (can you tell the fabric is covered in matrioshkas?):

And finally, the money shot with all my goodies set out on my craft table:

Sorry for the absurdly long post, but I just wanted to give credit where credit is due, and to show my excitement!  Thanks again novastarlet!

haha. SuzukiBeane33, I'm so glad you like everything. Cheesy I literally LOLed when I saw you standing there all cheesy holding the pillow. I'm thrilled that it's a hit -- although I know it wasn't a total surprise. Wink

Thanks for all the tons of great pics!! Yours are even better than the ones I took. I think that last shot shows all the detail on the little Matrioshka applique. I got my inspiration from Unazukin dolls.

The pillow applique was inspired by a change purse on Fred Flare.com.

Here are some images of the cards I sent a_heart_apart:

They each have three sizes of the nesting dolls which were lino printed on a variety of handmade papers.
Here's the matrioshka madness  Wink on my table in progress

I also made three nesting dolls by printing the same images on vintage fabric. They had pockets so that one doll could fit kangaroo-style inside a bigger one... but I forgot to photograph them before I sent them.  Undecided

Thanks!.. Um, at the risk of sounding a bit literal-minded, the lino is lino (technically, it is sometimes called "softolium" which is a more modern version of linolium for printmaking). Or are you asking about tools? I have a set of lino carving tools.

I recieved an awesome package from koi!

I got one of her lovely necklaces in the perfect colors for me, green and yellow. It matches my favorite dress perfectly!

Have a look at all the different beads, buttons and bows; this girl has got an eye for matching colors and shapes! (Did I mention how much I love the necklace??)

I also got this super-cute purse, with a crochet matrioshka doll on the front. I love the fabric flower she's decorated with, so creative!

A lot of thanks to you koi for this lovely, colorful package!

minouette: those lino-prints are awesome!

Koi will keep things running meanwhile. For those of you who haven't sent/recieved yet, please notify koi if you do so during this period.

I will leave feedback for those who are green before I leave.

Thanks!

Everyone's stuff is so cute!  I am amazed by those stamps- is each doll individually colored afterwards?  (and koi, those necklaces are soo precious...)

Too bad I went looking in all the antique stores near where I live, and no one had any nesting dolls before the swap, but this past Saturday I went into one store and not only did they have a set for $6, they had another set for $18 that were Leaders of the Soviet Union nesting dolls!  Ah well...

haha yeah i saw a babushka st of russian leaders from a tiny little lenin to a rather large putin at my local babushka shop.  they should have made an even tinier tsar nicholas!!

they also had ones of the american presidents and various different animals, but my favourite was the beatles babushkas (with a mini ringo starr in the middle)!!!

I actually own a set of the Leaders of the Soviet Union dolls.  Only, since I got them in 1991, they only go from little Lenin to the large Gorbachev.  They're fairly hilarious.

SuzukiBeane33, I printed the Matriosky on various papers, some which were patterned already, so there was layering of patterns. I then cut up and layered the paper so they each got a red babushka (head scarf) and whitish face.

I want a set of the Leaders of the Soviet Union dolls too! How delightfully kitsch.  Grin
