At the school my kids go to (and I work), the elementary kids aren't allowed to carry backpacks (due to space).  A few of my friends have asked me to make totes for their girls to carry.  I got an old uniform that was unusable, and made this!  I actually made two, but they look the same except for the name.

It's not really crooked, it's just the photo.  The name was done by hand- never again!  I'm putting a letter limit on the next one!

Inside pocket shot.

Here's the uniform pre-hacking up.

I still have to make my two boys totes, but they don't wear plaid like the girls.  They want camo!  I'll post pictures when they're done, which probably won't be until the night before school starts!
Procrastinators rock! tomorrow.

Aw I like it. That's a good idea. Which part of the bag did you use the uniform for?

Sorry, the pictures stink.  The bottom and the inside pocket are made out of the plaid.  Maybe I should have used better light.

i can sorta tell now if i look closely. That's a good idea. Weird about the no backpack rule. I guess they can save their back strength for high school

Thanks.  Well, if you think about it, how much homework does a second grader have to bring home?  The only bad thing is lunchboxes don't fit in most totes.  My mom found skinny lunchboxes, but I still have to make fat totes- oh well- another excuse to craft!

Oh my! that's all I can say.  Oh my!
Somehow I don't think my kindergartener could pull of that look.
