What a great cake. You daughter looks so happy. My mom used to make me princess cakes like that when I was little and I loved them!

Thanks everyone!  By the way...those are little printed gardening gloves she's wearing!  I need to find some little white or blue gloves for her, but until then, she's just content with the ones she has!

Very nice. So much better than the barbie cakes when I was growing up.

That dress looks so much like fabric (in the photo) that I was wondering if it would mess up the cake underneath.  I love the way you did those cupcakes; especially the pink ones.  The icing (or whatever) looks so professional, like it was done by machine.  Yum! Yum!

Your four year old daughter is very lucky to have a creative and caring mother such as yourself.. back when I was four I was thrilled to have rice crispie buns! It just shows how grown up kids are these days.

Thanks everyone!  I forget where I saw it...either a Wilton book or the instructions for the cake pan, but you can make the Little Mermaid sitting on the beach with the same cake pan.   You create the tail out of fondant and still use the Barbie on top.  The tail is attached to the waist and comes down, curving slightly around the dome cake.  You could use brown sugar for sand, blue fondant for water, those little candy rocks and sea shells would be cute, too.
