I'm a knitter (please don't throw things at me  Smiley ), but after drooling at length over Alicia's gorgeous ripple afghan, I convinced my mom to crochet me one. The fantastic results:

The pattern is "Soft Waves" from Jan Eatons's 200 Ripple Stitch Patterns and the yarn is all KnitPicks Merino Style. My mom did an amazing job: the blanket is perfectly rectangular and soft and cuddly. Forgive me for posting a project I didn't do myself (um, I did pick out and buy the yarn...), but I have to show off my mom's awesomeness. Yeah Mom!

That is so pretty!!  Kudos to your mom  Grin.  I've been toying with the idea of learning to crocket, and the idea of being able to (eventually) make something like this is the little push I needed to go on over to the "learn it already!" side.

Oh that's BEAUTIFUL!! I've been wanting to try it for the longest but was scared b/c of how long the starting chain is but your mom did a great job.

There will always be people who say mean words  because you are different, and sometimes their minds cannot be changed. There are many more people who do not judge others based on how they look or where they are from. THOSE are the people whose WORDS truly matter.
