The first is the one I painted for my FIL for his birthday.

This one is a newspaper box I made for my grandpa who raises koi fish.

Any Comments and Questions welcome

I am also curious about what kinda of paint/sealer you used. I have wanted to paint one but I have allways been worried about the desert sun destroying it.

My mailbox has been outside for 2 years and still looks great. I use regular craft acrylics and spray it with about 4 coats of rustolium gloss clear sealer. I love the rustolium because it seems to hold up best outside. I've tried cheaper sealers, but they tend to crackle after a bit in the sun. As long as it has got enough coats and I mean 4 pretty thick coats, just not so thick it runs, you should have a beautiful mailbox that will stand up to just about anything. Hope this helps. Smiley

I know my FIL would pee his pants if his mailbox had a stag on it. Or a Caribou. He went to Canada and went caribou hunting. Came back with 2!

ditto

so thanks for the info

I've wanted to do this for a while but was waiting for inspiration - which I *think* I have and then sealing info so that my work won't be in vain....

I even posted in a thread last year when my mailbox was falling apart....  well it lasted another year but the post itself is starting to decompose.... SO I think this will be a terrific project as I'm waiting for spring.

I've done 5 for people specifically and I have 2 sitting here that I tried to sell at a street fair. I'll pull them out and take pictures and post them. I would love to find someone that would appreciate them. One is Egyptian themed and the other is old style hot rod pinstriping and skulls  Smiley
