I was a waitress at a bar but alas I married my best tipper.

as a waitress what do you consider a good tip? I always wonder this.

We tip pretty decent I think, we almost always tip 20% and almost never tip below 15%

and I always wonder if they still go by that system

I found it depends on where in the country you live.  When I was in Kansas City (granted, fine dining), the usual was 18 - 20%.  When I moved back to TN, I was offended at the end of the night when I only made 16% of my sales, but came to realize, most people here tip 12% with 15% - 18% being a good tip.  That's why I try to tip 20% and 25% at places I go to often.

Wow you all live in really generous places, the tips here (England) are rubbish, our service is almost perfect and on average an £50 bill will tip about £5 - thats like 10%! I wish I waitressed in America - mind you I supose the cost of the cummute would outstrip the extra tips.
I would love to join this swap but my resaurant has a strict uniform and gives us our notepads/pens etc - so I can't wear cute aprons

Heh, the waitresses I had in England when I was traveling there must have loved my family if you usually only get 10%
You could still join!  Your partner would just have to be more creative in their ideas!

You can make other stuff too!  It doesn't just have to be aprons, it can be stuff to go inside of the aprons too, or even something to make you feel better about crappy tippers or the end of a hard day!

hehe i agree with umbrolly! we certainly are a hard done my lot, its 10% generally if your lucky some people don't tip despite good service ( ish! service with a smile at least!)

Hopefully be able to join the swap just working out timings on other swaps as well!

I can always push signups and such back a few days as it is send outs are on my bday so it wouldnt bug me that much
