Unlike the rest of the world, San Francisco is colder than $*@#&* right now... in my view.  My mom asked me to help her make some scarves for some relatives, and I took a break from baby knits to open my own sweatshop.  One done, who knows how many more to go!

I totally recommend the pattern.  It's super duper easy and it knits up quickly!  It has a "self-tying" feature-- there's a loop on one end of the scarf, and you pull the other end of the scarf through it.  The first picture shows where that loop is (up at the neck).  I also included closer-up pictures of where that loop is.  It's so easy!

P.S. I take goofy pictures.  It's the only way I will get in front of the camera.  You should see the family Christmas cards.  My siblings hate me.

Some details:
Pattern in: Vogue Knitting Winter 2005/2006 Pattern #37 (Designed by Debbie Bliss)
Yarn: 1.5 skeins of Goddess Yarns "Jay" (70% Wool, 30% Alpaca, bulky)
Needles: 10.5 straight
Start & Finish: August 8, 2007 (~4 hours)

4 hours?! wow!  Are you a fast knitter?  Hm... I like the idea of the self looping scarf... shall have to try to find the pattern.  is it on the web, or only in the magazine?

thanks for the nice comments!

itscute,

I'm not sure if I'm a fast knitter... I've never really knit in company of others since I moved, and before I moved, I was still learning how to knit.  But I used pretty bulky yarn and larger needles, so it went quickly.  There are only 17 sts to make that scarf 6 inches wide!

The pattern I think is only in the magazine ... it's a very simple construction though, and if you study the pictures long enough, you might understand how to make it.  It's a seed stitch, so K1, P1 the entire scarf.
