Gather stitches....no clue what this means!!!

I'm working on little bird and the end of the pattern says to gather the 6 stitches on the last round but I haven't a clue what that actually means. Can anyone explain exactly how to do that or point me to somewhere that explains it??? Thanks !!

Without seeing the pattern, I imagine it means you're closing off the top or bottom of the round to form a circle shape and this just closes the hole. What I would do is weave the tail of the yarn in and out of the stitches and pull it tight like a drawstring.
