Mohair Pear was owned by the husband & wife team that formed House of Large Sizes, one of Iowa's best exports, music-wise.  :-D

Have you been to Gilgen's in Cedar Falls?  It's on 16th street very near Main I think, and i've found some great buys there.

i used to go to school in ames, they have some great lil shops to go dink around in and find stuff... as well as some really good garage sale finds.  now i got to school at UNI in cedar falls... and i must say that mohair pair kicks butt.  and in waterloo there is this lil flea market place.  they have a room where u pay 2 buck for a box and u can fill it with all sorts of crazy random things.  like a huge gargae sale/flea market Cool

Hi!  Newbie to this site from Des Moines, IA.  I love this site!  Lots of cool ideas.  I've actually attempted one of them - the button earrings - and I'm really having fun with that project.  Does anyone know of any crafty-esque type meetings around Des Moines? Cheesy  Thanks!

I'm new here and not in Iowa ...just over the River in Illinois.  There's a stamp arts store (with lampworking supplies too) in Milan, IL (QC area)
http://www.mountinrubber.com/ (not updated in quite a while)
and Dawn's Bead and Hideaway has a website now:

not affiliated, yada yada

I'm in Ames, but moving to Des Moines in a month!  I can't wait to have access to more crafty stores.  The only real thing in Ames is Hobby Lobby, I think.  And Grandma's Jewelry Box for beads.

Hi, I'm In Des Moines & would enjoy finding some crafty friends nearby. I'm on the southside near the airport. I enjoy rubberstamping & needlework. Besides Hobby Lobby, Michaels & Jo-Ann Fabrics, I enjoy Outstamping Designs in West Des Moines (Valley Junction).
