So I'm not the biggest Stevie Nicks fan, but as I was spinning this up Stevie's feathers and gypsy-ness kept whispering to me on the wind. Tongue So, here's Rhiannon (the first of my "women in rock" yarns that I'm making.) They will be complete with a little charm-picture of the particular woman that can be pinned to the finished product (scarf, whatever)...
Merino, New Zealand Romney, sheep locks, plied with lavender thread.

...this is my first attempt at "art yarn"...I've been reading Diane Varney's "spinning designer yarns" book and just experimenting. Yay!
Thanks for checkin it out.

very cool yarn! i love the purples and black together <3

I just got that book too! lol I couldn't believe my school library had it. I haven't tried anything from it yet...oh I take that back, I tried to navajo ply.....and yeah, didn't quite come out right....basically because I'm using a drop spindle....lol i don't have enough hands I guess.

I can't wait to see more of your 'women in rock' series. Do you already have ideas for the other women & yarn?

Aww! Thanks you guys!
Yeah, I really like the book so far. It's given me some cool ideas, and it's pretty easy to understand. (sometimes it's hard to really understand spinning directions written out, at least for me anyways!)

Heck yeah! I have tons of ideas for women in rock yarn...I think of colors/textures, etc when I see these women who inspire me. P.J. Harvey, Courtney Love (pre-hollywood days! Circa 1992), Kat Bjelland of Babes in Toyland, Kathleen Hanna, Ani Di Franco, Karen O., The Gossip, Neko Case, I could go on and on! I might try to sell the yarns at this craft show in Portland this summer. My first! I'm kinda nervous. We'll see how it goes.

I love that combo!  It is really a fun yarn.  Our fiber festival is coming in a few weeks, I am going to be SO toast.
All of the great ideas I am getting here- things to buy!
