I had every intention of not procrastinating on this one...but here i am posting at midnight...:-P
Anyways, I started with an old khaki skirt and some random fabric remnants (including some super 80's heart fabric).
I used the waistband from the skirt for the handles. I reattached the belt loops to give myself a place to keep my keys. Also has a pocket to hold my wallet, ipod, coupons, grocery list, etc. made from blue netting and bias tape.
it holds lots of goodies and is strong enough for a bag full of cans.
I chose the 80's fabric to match the Barbie theme.
Close up of the stenciling. btw, this is my first attempt at stencilling. i tried the freezer paper method i've read about on craftster...totally did not work for me...oh well i did the best i could with it...maybe it'll go better next time.
Once I find my old Barbie collection, I'm gonna make a matching keychain out of barbie shoes, hats, boots, etc. (i'll post it when i do make it)

So i found my old Barbie stuff! I made a pin out of a little bag.
And a keychain of mismatched Barbie shoes
they add a little color to the bag
