I'm completely clueless when it comes to sewing zippers.

I know you have to use a zipper foot(or do you really. . .can you sew it with the regular foot?)but I don't know where to go from there.

Also, can you hand-sew zippers?

You can hand-sew a zipper, but I don't think it's as durable as machine sewing it. (Unless you're an incredible hand sewer... which I am not.)

Well, I've never used the regular foot to sew in a zipper, but I assume it would a pain to sew without a zipper foot. Here's a tutorial for sewing a zipper:

I used the tut here, http://whatthecraft.com/tuts/zip.htm, when I put in my first zipper. It worked pretty well! I would deffinately use a zipper foot.
