I'm so proud of my bag for the challenge. I just hope other people like it. The "I'm melting" message is not only for global warming, but also a good way to identify the cold stuff that needs to be put away in your fridge before the other groceries.  Cheesy

I used an old tye-dye t-shirt for the bag fabric. I'd been looking for a way to re-use the shirt because it was from the activity programming board at school (BAC). I thought I would sort of include a step by step in case anyone wants to see how I made it.

I folded the t-shirt in half...

...and cut out the bag's shape around the design.

This is the bag unfolded & unsewn.

Next I tucked in the sides of the shirt to line up with the handle edges, like so, and pinned them.

The pinning:

Then I turned the bag inside out, and sewed along the bottom edge. I also sewed the tops of the handles together on each side. I didn't take any pics of this part. I was too excited to keep going. Wink I flipped the bag right side out and folded the raw edges over and sewed them. Bias tape would look nice, but I didn't have any.

Next I layer stencilled the image with freezer paper. The stencils used images from clipart or hand-drawing.
In process of stencilling.

Six ( Roll Eyes) layers of stencilling later, the finished product!

Holding some "cold stuff."

Whew! Long post!  Wink

good idea! it looks way sturdier than you'd think, being that it's a shirt. very cool.

Thank you all so much!  I'm glad that people are liking it. Cheesy

Actually, I thought it would be sturdy because it IS a shirt, but after your comment I started to think about Hulk Hogan ripping his shirts and such. Haha! I'm pretty sure the bag will hold up. I walked laps around the house with milk jugs in it to check.  Wink

I love the stencil on your bag. If your worrying about how long it will hold up, maybe putting cardboard on the bottom and sewing some plastic on the inside to keep the cold in and from your bag getting wet; from your groceries sweating.

That's a good idea! Thanks ChrissyCrafts.  Cheesy I'll look around the house and see what my options are.  Wink
