I have crocheted with cotton and used plastic bags as material with yarn for rugs but I have not seen this before, looks like my next project

i really like your bag. does it have straps?

It has small handles rather than straps, you can just about see them in the first picture!  I think they're more stable that way, if you're carrying lots of heavy things then they're less likely to break as they're part of the body of the bag.  Although you could totally crochet a long thick strap and attach it if you wanted a messenger-style bag!

oops. i didnt look closely enough. yeah, i think this way is much better and stronger.

I love the bag. Another wonderful example of recycling and crafting at its best. The colors are fantastic. I wish I could get such beautiful colored bags...

My best friend's Mom makes these...they save all their shopping bags (and I often donate mine) so Mom can make beach bags/shopping bags out of, well shopping bags!  I love helping out cutting and sorting the strips and watching "trash" being turned into something crafty.  Dibs to yer Mum!
