oops sorry for the huge pics, if sbdy knows how to make smaller clickable icons on blogger..? (haven't used them for ages :-?)

So about a year and a half ago I started working on a green cotton blend cardi. I decided on a lace pattern, basic semi-cropped shape, deep square neckline... and cast on.

At the time I was 6 months pregnant. I don't know what I was thinking but I figured I'd make it somehow a bit larger so it'd fit for the last stages of pregnancy + nursing..

But.. as always it took longer to knit than first planned and by the time I was finished my baby girl was born... And the cardi came out HUGE, didn't look nice at all (my partner said it looked like a potato sack on me..and I agreed despite the hard work !! ). Even the sleeves (meant to be nice 3/4 length) looked by butterfly wings.. but not in a nice way !

So this spring I frogged it all and started again, this time carefully taking all my measurements, decided on another shape & style in between... and TaDa !! This time it fits like a glove, I'm so happy !!
I think it's my favorite handknit garment ever..!!  :-D

Thats a lovely cardigan! I love off the shoulder pieces, and i must agree, i like it way better the second time around!

Oh, I admire you. I would have hidden it away, unable to bear the thought of all that ripping. It looks great on you, and way to regain that prepregnancy figure- the original cardi would have been ginourmous on you.

I think it's better the second time as well!  Very nice pattern, and the color is so pretty.

Oh la la lovely to see you!

That's a really great pattern. I have some katia jamaica with yellow and green tones in it and I think that might be a perfect shape for it. Thanks for posting!

That is very cute and unique!  Much more flattering than the first one.  Great job!  Smiley

Both are great, but I really love the second version!  You're so brave to rip out all that work; I would have cried.

Just a little seditious.

I love the neckline on it.  And that ribbing is a great way to show off your great post-pregnancy waist.  Don't mind my jealous thoughts.   Wink

So cute, and I must say I prefer the second version by far to the first. Much more original, I think. And I love that green color. Are you going to offer a pattern?
