I used old plastic bags cut into long strips and knitted them together. I then sewed a liner that snaps in and out of the bag out of old fabric I had laying around. I used the same fabric for the handles and snap reinforcements. The liner is removeable to clean or if you want to use it as a beach/pool bag.

This bag kicks butt!  Smiley It turned so neat and well made. The fact you made the liner removable is very clever. too.

What a great bag! I've seen this done with crocheting, but not knitting.  I'll have to try that.

Thanks for the kind words, the knitting is hard at first the plastic kept getting stuck on the needles for the first two rows then it got much easier

I was waiting to see one of my favourite types of shopping bags! I have a blue one upstairs. I love th idea of a snappable lining- very clever.

Oh No!  This bag looks so lovely, and I really want to make it, but the pictures have disappeared from the page!  Can you repost them?
