I'm working on one now in the round with Lions Brand Landscapes and size 11 dpn's and it is going really quick (once I did the knitting math). Snowwhite- you should really give it a try, I am a new knitter and I was able to 'get it' fairly easy. I really suck at stitiching up seams to make them look good, so knitting in the round is great for me.

Looks awesome! Did you add a ribbed brim to it or something?

Nice work!

Thanks, everyone!  Cheesy

I bastardized the Martha Stewart pattern because I just couldn't get the gauge right with the yarn I have on hand (Plymouth Encore Chunky.)  I worked 8 rows in 2x2 rib, then knit 2 rows before starting the stockinette until the piece measured 7.5 inches.  Then, I started the decreases in both the knit and purl rows.  The ribbing and the two knit rows give it the look of having a turned back cuff, I think, but it didn't add extra bulk.

I wrote out the changes to the pattern as I went, so my next project is to try another hat following the new pattern to see if it comes out the same.  Total time on project was about an hour and a half with no major setbacks.

Here's my version of the hat. I wish I could have gotten the original pattern.

Anyway I did Marha Stewart's version and ended up making it too short. I think it looks better on my two year old!
