I'm pretty sure I have seen it. I'm not much of a crocheter either. The first scarf I crocheted curled up on itself like a corkscrew. Something made up of thin strands like that might have a similar effect. Maybe make some of them wider at the ends to simulate blood drops. I might have to give that a try.

Awesome! This is on the list of "things to felt". I have found reference photos for the front but not any for the back. Did you base this on any photos?
