Need a little help...So we're trying to do our invitations, right down to making the envelopes ourselves, I know, I know-I'm insane.
My middle name, and what I go by, is Jill.  His first name, and sometimes what he goes by (school, work, etc.) is Jack. So we were thinking of playing off that.
We fancy ourselves pretty hip-music, art, love retro and vintage, all that stuff. And our wedding style is pretty casual and DIY.  Our invite colors are chocolate, turquoise and pale yellow.
Any ideas for hip, fun invite wording, not too cheesy, not too boring, and not too much of a nursery rhyme??
I'm so demanding... Wink

I made my invites and envelopes.  You are crazy... but it's so much fun!! Smiley

A few more details - do you want to include your parents' names, "family", that it's an outdoor ceremony (I don't know if it is or not), an invite to the reception as well?  Anything else?

Yeah it is outdoors and the wedding and reception are at the same place also.  Yes, we'll include our folks on the invite.  But we've been together for about 10 years, and it's his second marriage, my first, so we don't want the stuffy sounding "Mr. and Mrs. So and So cordially invite you to the marriage of their daughter.."
I was never that little girl who always dreamed of this day, it's quite insane how crazy people get over it, and the money spent!
We just want to throw a really fun party and make sure people leave thinking what a great time it was!

What about something like:

Together with our parents, We joyfully invite you to our wedding celebration.
On this day we will marry the one
we laugh with, live for, dream with, love.

Please join
your name
his name
at Time
on Date
Two thousand and four

Feast and dancing to follow

or something like that?

I picked a bible verse and put up top but I bet you can find 4 lines of a song that depicts how you feel and do the same.  Or you can even use a good quote.
Beneath it we put:
"It is with much joy that we,
Jill (last name)
Jack (last name)
Together with our parents
Invite you to share
The beginning of our new life together
As we exchange marriage vows"
Then add all the time place etc info....

This may not be what you are looking for but I hope it helps to get at least the creative juices flowing a bit!

if this isn't nice, what is?

yeah, we're getting married in LA on Laurel Canyon, kind of on a hill, more on the way up or down, depending on which way you're going.
I would love to have something with the jack and jill reference!  We've been racking our brains trying to come up with some sort of cute ryhme.
