really cute! here's a stupid question...how did you start it?

Here's a how to crochet site.  It includes how to start a chain stitch and how to double crochet. http://crochet.about.com/library/blbeginners.htm?PM=ss11_crochet

Thanks for the INSPIRADO!

you know, if you're just begging to crochet it's wonderful to get a HUGE crochet hook and use 4 strands of yarn as one...  your scarf will go so quickly!   For fun i usually use 4 strands of similar colors, that way you wouldn't even have to worry about changing colors at the end of rows.

for example, i made the throw below in just 3 nights using 4 yarns as one.   if you like to finish things QUICKLY before you get bored with them like i do, it's a great technique.

why thank you!! i don't have ADHD except when it comes to crafts.. i like the instant gratification... he he... ok so maybe it doesn't just apply to crafts. anyway, just get yourself the BIGGEST crochet hook you can find and go to town!

if anyone wants the pattern for the throw i made, just let me know and i'll transcribe it.

Gretchen, what size needle did you use (to fit 4 strands)?  Oh, and I'd love the pattern for your afghan... Smiley
