*ACTION SHOTS* now on page 4

**new pics on page 2**

The release of the Deathly Hallows was a great excuse for me to do some crafting, since I work in a bookstore. We didn't have a midnight release party, but we did open super early Saturday morning, and had lots of decorations and stuff.

I really wanted a little purple sweater, so I decided to dress up as Luna. I ventured into the realm of polymer clay for the first time, to make her radish earrings:

And made a cork necklace, to keep away nargles:

And decoupaged a Luna quote on the bottom:

I also wanted to make a little cardigan like the one Luna wears in the OOTP movie. I dont crochet, so I found a knitting pattern I thought would look similar (cloud bolero by ysolda) and knit it in a similar colour. People recognized it, so I guess it was close enough Smiley

I also made a pair of pants based on ones Luna wore in OOTP, and also put crazy shoelaces in my all stars like Luna's. I'm hoping to get some pictures from my coworker, since I forgot my camera that day. Then I will post action shots! And hopefully pics of the pants and shoes if they don't turn up well in her photos.

I also made a bunch of buttons. Some to give away to kids coming to get the book:

And some for those of us working to wear:

And wands! These were everyones favourite! People kept asking to buy them, so we started giving them away for a donation to charity.   They are based on the tutorial here. I ended up making a few more batches, but only took pictures of the first one:

Hope you like my HP stuff Cheesy Hopefully I'll be able to get those action shots soon.

Aw, thanks guys, I'm glad you like everything!

The wands are probably the most successful craft I've ever done, in terms of people liking and commenting on them. Too bad it wasn't my idea  Undecided

The pattern seems to suit any type of yarn really. If you search around on flickr, you'll see it in bulky weight, etc... The pattern was designed by a craftster (ysolda) who was super helpful when I realised I can't count! Cheesy

Fantastic Luna accessories! I like your interpretation of her necklace I just made a strand of corks for  mine. And that bolero excellent! It's really very Luna-esque. I may take your idea and make one for my own Luna costume ...

Excellent buttons, by the by.

Very nice! I love the bolero-- it drapes very nicely. What yarn did you use? I made a crochet one here: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=184172.0 But the color is wrong. Love the earrings, too. And the neclace is fabulous!

Pants: did you paint them? Are they the red ones with the flowers?

I'm very interested, as I'm planning my own costume. You are flipping awesome!

Wow everyone, thanks for all the replies and nice comments!

So I feel pretty dumb right now because I forgot to ask my coworker to email the pictures to me. I don't think I'll see her again until Thursday Sad.

The pants were modeled after those red flower ones kind of - they're the same sort of style, but in a purple and green fabric that I already had. I didn't paint them though.

The bolero is Bernat Satin in Star Dust.

I had seen some pictures of strands of cork necklaces, but cork was more expensive than I thought it would be at Michaels! I also thought it would be more comfortable to wear while I was working Smiley

I love Luna, and I loved all her costumes in OotP.

Everything you made looks fantastic! And it's so nice of you to make buttons for the kids and get the donations for charity!

OK, I took some blurry in the mirror shots of the pants...

Sorry they are kinda wrinkly and blurry... and my house is a mess - I'm in the middle of cleaning the guinea pig cages, so I had to crop hay and poo out of the bottom of the pictures Wink.

So, anyway - the pants!

I was going to put in an elastic waist, but ran around the house searching for thick elastic for hours and hours before I gave up and decided to just sew on ties. I had to wear a big long t-shirt and the bow looked all poofy underneath so that wasn't good, but I think elastic may have looked weirder. Of course pretty much as soon as I got home from wearing the costume, I found the jar of elastic hiding behind a box that I'm sure I looked behind at least a dozen times while hunting. Oh well.

I also realize now that you can't see the fabric very well, so I'll go take a close-up of it.

And the shoes - I just put new laces in my old sneakers... kinda like my own take on the ones Luna wore in the movie:

Thanks again for all the compliments!

This one is the best for the colour:

Luna has turned out to be my favorite character in the books, I love the girl they picked to play her in OOTP.  The light-up wands just fascinate me, so I am now on the hunt for a UV cheapo flashlight that my husband will solder for me into a wand.  I am drawn to all things secret!

You made some wonderful things, fairysari!  Love the bolero and the pants, all of it!

And, finally, and ACTION SHOT!

The black t-shirt was the one we were given to wear at work that day, it has an HP logo on the front, and list of books on the back.
