Does the project smell up your house with the smell of burned plastic?

Yes, and I believe it's probably toxic.  Please only melt in a well-ventilated area, with no children or animals near. Smiley

They are plastic pony beads.

Great Idea. I took this a step further and made it a chime. (cake pan, muffin pan, & mini muffin pan) Middle bottom strand I added a heavy fishing sinker and hot glued jewel diamonds to it for extra sun sparkle. For the top I drilled extra holes and put ribbon through it for hanging purposes.

for the red/white & blue one, I just put several small circles as a weight.

I read thru all 4 pages of replies, but maybe I missed this......Is it possible to use the throw-away aluminum pie pans for this??

I tried to do this craft last night with my 3 year old neice.  Is there anything you have to do to the pan.  My beads melted and are stuck in the pan for life..They will not come out.  Did I get them to hot, melt them to long, or do I need to line the pan.  Please help, my neice was so disappointed we could not get these out of the pan.

Thanks
Anna

I haven't had any problems. as soon as I take them out I can hear them separating from the pan. and they pop right out with in minutes. Never had to line the pan with anything.

I've never tried disposable pans, but I'd imagine they'd work. maybe someone else will know
