i've been lurking for the last couple days and getting a million different ideas i want to try.. tonight i went ahead and made myself a bright pink tutu.. it's certainly not perfect, but i definately do like it. oh and please ignore the tummy pudge.. that's what happens when you have a kid.. woohoo.. (ok so that's not really a GOOD excuse, but it's my excuse till i get it back in shape lol)

i.. took 4 yards of tulle, cut into two 2 yard pieces and those pieces i cut in half long ways, to make the tutu shorter. then i fold those halves in half long way again and pinned it along the folded section so that i could sew it. i sewed all along that leave about 3/4" open to be able to slide the elastic thru. i did that to both 2 yard pieces. and then sewed the elastic to the size i wanted it. and.. yeah.. that really doesn't make sense does it?

over jeans is how i plan to wear it. just not when i'm with my mom (lol) cuz she's already made comments about how i look like a freak in some of my clothes *shrug*

yup.. that's part of one of my tats.. i have $600 worth on my back and side..

and thank you! : )

edited to add: mom just made a comment to me.. she's like "you did a very good job." I'm like thanx. she's like "you're welcome. it's kinda scary but you did a very good job." I'm like what's scary? and she's like "that you would wear that out in public."

Cute tutu!  It looks great over jeans.  I used to wear a pink ankle-length one under a lab coat when I was in college.  Some styles are just classic!

my friend was jealous of my tutu, so if that one fits her (she's skinnier than me but, since it's elastic it might fit her) then i'm giving it to her and making myself a new one. cuz i'm seeing her friday and HARDLY ever get to see her.. so yeah.. annnd if it doesn't fit her, i'm gonna wear the tutu and the new tube top i made to a concert friday night! woot!

$600 worth of ink, you say? would you mind posting a picture of it in its glorious entirety?

and for the sake of not straying too far off topic, i can totally picture that with a tube top and abounding cuteness. and eeeety beeeety wings.

Hey! (Woo first post  Grin I have to stop browsing forum and get ready for college! arghhh)

I LOVE the tutu!!!  Grin I never thought of wearing one over jeans before but now it's something I really want to do. Heh, I'm always wearing dresses over jeans so I suppose a tutu is taking it to the next level  Tongue

Anyway, yeah, that's all I really have to say, I saw this thread and sorta dropped everything to look  Tongue

Tutus are the best! Your's is so adorable. My mom's the same way. I made a black one kind of like the black one at http://foxtrotandtango.com/ but without the sash thing. When my mom saw it, she said, "You really know how to push my buttons." Tongue But maybe that was just because it ended up being really short. Haha.

My friend and I are gonna make some like these for a show sometime in march. It's gonna be fun. Cheesy

PixieSkull - thank you thank you!

i actually made another tutu after that one for a friend. i colored the elastic to match (pink fabric marker) and used pink thread too (i didn't have pink thread when i made mine) and her's looks SO much better lol

Woooow. Thanks for that foxtrotandtango link, because that sure does rock. They are just the sort of tutus that I love so. I really want that pale pink one with the flowery waistaband. Thing is- I only have 3 metres of tulle Sad

Man, who doesn't get that every once in a while from moms?  My mom says the same exact thing: "You dress all scary, but if it's what you like. . ."  and then she just sighs.  But what's life if you're gonna wear whatever is advertised in the Abercrombie nudie catalogues?   Not to mention shelling out major bucks for something everyone else will have. . . yuck!

I am loving the tutu; as someone who has just been converted to the joys of bright pink, I am very much enamored with the color.  And PS, your jeans are great too!  Smiley
