I found these awesome sheets at the thrift shop last week. I also found
4 retro patterns in my daughters size there, .25 each. I was amazed to find them, since it isn't a huge Salvy.
Anyway, this is called a jumper, but only one of the views show it worn as a jumper- the rest show it as a top to be worn over a shirt and pants. (Little girls wore scandalously short dresses back in the late 60s and early 70s, no?) The pattern comes with a pattern for bell bottoms, no lie, and I am going to make a pair of them in one of the fabrics, and shorts in the other fabric, so they can be coordinated and switched around.
I really didn't have to tweak it to make it reversible- you cut out the main piece and the lining with the same pattern piece, pin the good sides together, sew, and turn. All I will have to do is add buttons to both sides. (The safety pins are obviously filling in for the buttons, and the buttonholes will be added tomorrow after a quick trip to the store to find some funky ones to go with.)
I think it would make an awesome dress for a toddler if it had a matching or coordinating diaper cover, but it would need more tweaking to accomplish that.
No action shots, which I know makes it hard to tell how this really looks. The cheeky girl is asleep. (I will try to get some tomorrow for a better view.)
And FWIW, the colors aren't as bold as they appear in the picture. (I wish they were.)

I am SO not impressed with the buttonholes. I think it is the cheap-a** thread I was forced to buy because it is the only option available in our town anymore, and I wasn't going to drive 45 minutes to pick up one spool of thread. Freakin' cheap crap- I think it was the root of all the problems I was having with my machine. Grrr.... Going into the city tomorrow for something else, though, so I will pick up more and fix up the holes.
(And yea, I realize it needs to be pressed.)

Holy Freakin' Cow- I just found this dress which seems to be very similar- it sells for $52.50!!!!
