I found these awesome sheets at the thrift shop last week.  I also found 4 retro patterns in my daughters size there, .25 each.  I was amazed to find them, since it isn't a huge Salvy.

Anyway, this is called a jumper, but only one of the views show it worn as a jumper- the rest show it as a top to be worn over a shirt and pants. (Little girls wore scandalously short dresses back in the late 60s and early 70s, no?) The pattern comes with a pattern for bell bottoms, no lie, and I am going to make a pair of them in one of the fabrics, and shorts in the other fabric, so they can be coordinated and switched around.

I really didn't have to tweak it to make it reversible- you cut out the main piece and the lining with the same pattern piece, pin the good sides together, sew, and turn.  All I will have to do is add buttons to both sides. (The safety pins are obviously filling in for the buttons, and the buttonholes will be added tomorrow after a quick trip to the store to find some funky ones to go with.)

I think it would make an awesome dress for a toddler if it had a matching or coordinating diaper cover, but it would need more tweaking to accomplish that.

No action shots, which I know makes it hard to tell how this really looks.  The cheeky girl is asleep. (I will try to get some tomorrow for a better view.)

And FWIW, the colors aren't as bold as they appear in the picture.  (I wish they were.)

I am SO not impressed with the buttonholes.  I think it is the cheap-a** thread I was forced to buy because it is the only option available in our town anymore, and I wasn't going to drive 45 minutes to pick up one spool of thread.  Freakin' cheap crap- I think it was the root of all the problems I was having with my machine.  Grrr....  Going into the city tomorrow for something else, though, so I will pick up more and fix up the holes.

(And yea, I realize it needs to be pressed.)  Wink

Holy Freakin' Cow- I just found this dress which seems to be very similar- it sells for $52.50!!!!

Know why chicken coops have 2 doors?

If they had 4 doors they'd be chicken sedans.

Your pic brought back memories. In the 70's we were foster parents to a little girl who came in a similar outfit.  She stayed 6 mo. so she grew out of it, I save it for future little girls and sent her back to mom with new duds.
The outfit was not reversible, but the same pattern, and the pique  fabric was muted yellow and white flowers.  Had a little pair of elastic pants which fit over the diaper.
Thanks for the memories.

I love those flowers.  The top turned out really cute.

I have a pattern for a baby/toddler top like that.  It comes with bloomers & I think a hat.  I believe it's a Simplicity pattern.  It's really cute, I've used ot several times.
