My daughter had an astronomy themed birthday party and I made these little star mascots into barrettes as favors:

Here they are on the treat bags that I also stitched up:

I love these things when they are photographed in giant piles like this.

If you are super interested, I blogged about the party here:

The felt stars and the bags look wonderful! I was super-interested, and the whole party sounds fantastic  Cheesy Your daughter is so pretty and the star looks so cute in her hair, and quite frankly, I would love an astronomy party, particularly one as awesome as that. How old was she?

Thanks!  She just turned 7.  It's a great age. Last year at her Rainbow Party the girls were all 6 and were a little bit more hyper, but this year, they were all excited and interested, but could settle down a bit easier.

I never go to themed parties anymore  Cry  They do take a lot of planning!

Those are way too adorable!!  They'd be really cute hanging from ribbons, like a beaded curtain sort of thing!  I might try to make something like that!

If you use the wool blended felt (80% rayon/20% wool) , you can use a hole punch and get perfect identical circles for the eyes.  Acrylic felt doesn't like punches though...

Thanks for the tip!  My local craft store doesn't have wool felt.. but if I happen to be in the neighborhood of another one, I might try to find some.
