So the NYC Craft Mafia teamed up with Etsy Labs and had a supply swap two weeks ago, and there was a huge abundance of fabric. In the pile was this, and no one wanted it, so I figured, what the hell, this could make a really cool dress!

So I took it home and it sat and sat..

Then Swappy (Our NYC Craft Mafia Swap Monster made by the loverly Ms. Erika Kern) found his way into my apt and inspired me to make something with my swap stuff.

So here it is, the swap dress.. inspired by my new boyfriend, Swappy! Its not 100% done yet, I want buttons down the front bodice but Im waiting on my button cover kit to come in so for now there is that lovely seam down the front.  Tongue

Two things I learned from this dress

1. leftover christmas wrapping paper makes excellent pattern drafting paper..

2. this type of fabric required a very small overlock stitch because it was so "woven" it would burst open if it wasnt overlocked this way. Interesting. So I had to overlock and topstitch with very small stitches, now its very sturdy.

I love that dress! It's very Siena Miller! Great job! Swappy looks like he approves, too.
