I've been thinking of making the women's version of the same sweater. But I always have difficuties getting a proper gauge, when I do garter stitch.
Does anybody else have this problem? Is there a trick to getting it right? Even though I change needle sizes, I still end up with the same number of stitches per inch.

that has happened to me too!!! personally it took me concentrating and it made a difference ... i think garter can be "too easy" and that's possibly why i needed to concentrate?
