school doesn't start until after labor day for me, but i want to have a cute and roomy knitted messenger bag for when i go back. i've knit one in the past but it was for a swap so i had to part with it. is anyone interested in knitting with me? i'm thinking of doing a solid-colored one with pockets on the outside and on the lining...and maybe some decorative cabling?

I am looking for a bag to make actually.  I've never made one before but I would like to.  Do you have a pattern in mind?

I used to be strictly a yarn girl but now I'm teaching myself to sew.  Help! Smiley

there is a link for a TON of different kinds of bags. i'm sure if you find a pattern you like, you can alter the dimensions to make it a messenger. imagination and creation, baby! Smiley

I'm thinking about doing this if I can get away from my dozens of UFO's.

Here are some patterns I found that may interest someone.

I may have to join in on  this one, although I will probably design my own. I have been meaning to make a messenger bag for a while now!

great! i'm so excited about the interest in this knit-a-long. i'm thinking of using chunky yarn - i love the look of it (especially with cabling) and the fact that it knits up so quickly!
