I was in the middle of making a present for a great great friend of mine when I saw this post from the knit/crochet goodie bag swap and was instantly inspired to make something else! It's a bit on the girlie side, and a bit on the small side, but I like it.

Simply soft double stranded, with DMC embroidery floss for the branch and flowers

Front:

detail:

(dont know why the bottom right flower looks wonky, but it isnt really. I think its just the angle)

I added a snap closure, but its on the inside and isnt visible, anyway

FLOWER PATTERN:

If this doesn't make sense, please let me know!

Chain 10, join to 10th chain from hook with a slip stitch to form a ring.

Working around the chain, *chain 1, dc, (tr, picot) rep from ( to ) once, tr, dc, chain 1, ss around ring. Rep from * to * four times (5 petals). ss into first chain 1 and fasten off.

(switched the order of my pics so I can milk "hot new topics" for all its worth Wink)

Beautiful. I think that the edging on the sides is especially pretty.
