so the kids and I are going to a BBQ today. Heaven FORBID I let my little angel go in something **gasp** store bought. So I pulled a vintage pillowcase out of the linen closet and **poof!** Summery dress!

Thanks goes out to Vegabee for in the Inspiration!! I always want to sew after reading her  posts!  Cheesy

Now PICTURES!

she really likes how light it is.

such a cheeky little monkey!

and this is how much she loves it! Smiley

You can see that I had some issues with the zipper. I couldn't find the zipper foot for my machine, and I suck at hand sewing.

I also need to finish the hem on the bottom. Smiley

Comments are welcome!

Little BBQ action shot:

That's lovely!  Good call on the pillowcase - definitely a great summer dress.

Question: what did you use for the tie?

I sacrificed a shoelace for the greater good. Wink

that's so cute!  did you use the halter tute?  i have tons of pillowcases because i always raid the thrift stores and we have some really good (and cheap) ones in town...but i'm getting a little tired of the same old pillowcase dresses and yet don't want to go the whole nine yards and actually cut out a pattern from them...

I didn't use a tutorial...I make my own patterns, However, Vegabee inspired me with her halter dress. Smiley I agree about the generic dress today...That's why I enjoy making my own! I just got the most AWESOME vintage pac man fabric on ebay. I'm sure I'll go nutz with it when it arrives. Skirt for me, dress for the wee one, perhaps a button up dress shirt for my oldest little one. Smiley s'gonna be great!

That's gorgeous, one of the nicest pillowcase dresses I've seen.

I like dressing mine in handmade outfits whenever we go out somewhere as well  Smiley
