Amma's Sugar Skulls Mei Tai and matching Minky Blankey! (measurements added)

I made these for my daughter a few weeks ago. I bought 6 yards of this glittery day of the dead fabric, (yea for alexander henry!) and i wanted to make her things she wouldn't outgrow...

the mei tai-


the padded fold down top of the mei tai (to hold her sleepy little head)-


amma in her mei tai, rolled up for sleeping, she just woke up (it can be rolled down to shorten it at the waist so her arms are free, then it pretty much works like a chair holding her butt)-

My little ones are too big for one now but I am still holding out hope that my huddy will want one more.

 there are quite a few mei tai patterns with measurements online, and i'd already made a different one with one of those. for this one i just sort of averaged a few measurements for the body size, and guessed some things, like how to shape the padded top part. basically i modeled it after a babyhawk with the padded fold down top, (cute, but i'll keep my $70, plus they don't make it in pink!) and i think it's probably a little shorter in the padded top part.
 (and the padding on the straps needs to extend about 6 more inches into the strap to go over my hubby's shoulders, but i never realized he'd be awesome enough to wear a pink carrier when i made the measurements!)
 i'd be happy to share the measurements if anyone wanted them though...

yes please! i didn't know it was possible to make one of those. i have an ergo which he tolerates so-so. i'd love to find something he LIKES to be in without spending $70-$90

That is a very sweet baby hawk rip off!

I have a WAHM mei tai which I love, but it only has a little curve for sleepy time head support, and so I'm thinking of making a new one. I would also love to have the measurements for that.

like i said,  i think it's a little shorter than theirs... and amma's only 5 months. so it may need to be a little different for a bigger baby, not really sure. but i'll go measure!

here's the measurements, that's without seam allowance. and the back would be one solid piece, with the straps sandwiched inbetween. i padded the straps for the first 12 inches, which only works if it's not rolled down to free her arms. i think it would need another 6-8 inches, but i haven't really checked that...
