Here's my completed yarn for this week. This is merino. I spun 300 yards of worsted/dk single then I broke it into two hanks and dyed each differently to see what I could come up with. The pics aren't great since my camera went into hiding and I had to use my cell phone.

Forrest Moss - Drip Dyed with Wiltons Food dyes in deep green brown

Woodland Sprite - Hot pour method, using bright green and "skin color" Wiltons food dyes

anakarina, that is just gorgeous! No one would ever know it was your first attempt if you didn't say so! My first attempt, on the other hand...lets just say it's better for the world at large if I wait to find an actual person to teach me.

you're too kind! i think i will need a person to teach me the rest though- like plying- can't do that yet.

and crochetninja i don't know if you were talking to me but i did include a picture of the spindle - i won't be making anything with my tiny tiny hank of yarn! i'll just keep it as an example of my first. the second one i may use to make barbie sweaters though.

and star217 i loove forrest moss. those are one of my favorite color combos!

Miss Violaceous, I think that tencel looks really good!

And Star217, I love Woodland Sprite!  I think the skin colored Wilton's came out really nice.  I might have to pick some up next time I'm at the store...

Anyway, here's mine for the week.  It's about 92 yards of mill ends that I dyed with Wilton's before spinning, and then plied with yellow thread.

Thanks! Don't touch it though, because it's stiff as a twig. :-D OK, the one I plied softened up a tad. The single feels like it's spun styrofoam, though.

Thank you.
I'm using it as hair for a doll I crocheted. The doll is for a swap so I can't say too much about it at the moment, but it does have have a passing resemblance to bob marley  Shocked with the new hair.

The Persian Ocean yarn is amazing! I love the colors.

Miss Violaceous, did the tencel stiffen up after setting the twist? Because my tencel yarns usually dry a bit stiff, and I just knead/rub them between my hands and they soften up a lot.

Nocturnal, handspun merino combed top that I bought from a small farm. I dyed it in shades of black, pink, and olive green - I didn't really like the colors until I spun it up.

Mossy, handspun wool/kid mohair combed top from a small farm, with lots of mohair and sparkle spun in.

Vine Ripened, an amazing blend of 50% organic cotton and 50% tencel (it's called Dreamland, if anyone else wants to try it - but I don't know if all of it is made with organic cotton). The tencel gives shine & strength to the cotton.

No, it was stiff before and after. I guess I must've over spun it, but it was weird because it spun up very quickly and compressed easily.

I love the colors in nocturnal.
