Should I just work the next row of the pattern as I bind off?  Even the slipped stitches?

you could bind off by knitting each stitch and then slip the previous over the one you just knitted (most common way of binding off)

My thought would be that the slipped stitches would pull too hard if bound off in pattern.  If it would not mess up the stitch pattern you could try knitting the slipped stitches during the bind off but working everything else in pattern.
