I've been dying to try the twirly skirt tutorial http://houseonhillroad.typepad.com/photos/twirly_skirt/ Finally got on that this week.

In the first one I copied a shirt that vegbee posted awhile back. I had to add side panels because my first shot turned out just a little more revealing than I would have liked. But now I have a good prototype and I was able to copy the shirt to paper so I'll have a quick pattern for next time.

I bought the shirt for the second one, but I put the appliques on myself. They kind of suck because my machine is stupid and doesn't have a satin stitch so I have to make due with the zig zag.

She calls them her "skaters". I play roller derby and one of the teams wears gingham tutus so I guess that's where that came from.

The last one is a rostitchery pillowcase-style dress:
I put butterfly buttons on the top near the elastic because I did a REALLY bad job getting the elastic sewn in and the bias tape attatched neatly. Now all I've got to do is sew on the eyelet and I'll be done! Woo hoo.

I love everything! Especially the polka dot set!  Too cute.

They're adorable--especially the first set--and so is the wee one.  A couple of my nearest and dearest are Roller Queens too, my little chick wants skirts like theirs--green and black plaid mini kilts.

Ok now I must go in search of (not hard because link was provided) the twirly skirt pattern and make a few of these too. Very cute.  Thanks for sharing with us.

Of course they have to have wee little uniforms! I made half of our uniform skirts:

so I had to make her a little one as well! She even has her own name - Skater Tot, and # 110.5 (my number is 110) she calls the whole getup her skater tot.

Ignore the fact that it's too big and the hem is falling apart. This was at our first bout and I fixed both of those issues by the second  Cheesy

I ended up making 2 more of our skirts for the kids of my team mates. They look so cute together I could just pee.

The twirly skirts made me eekkk! (in a good way  Cheesy) too cute, I love love the red polka dot one.  I think the top looks great with it too!

I also love your roller derby pics, looks like much fun.

You inspired me to go finish my twirly skirt from the same tutorial. The funny thing is that I am using the same red and white polka dot fabric for the majority of the skirt.
