is there a certain multiple of stitches that you should use?  I wanna make a little bitty one for my friend's little girl!

It's best to keep it in numbers divisible by 4, plus 3 for turning, so

If you made one to the pattern's size:

chain 56 because 56/4=14 plus chain3 for turning= 59

does that make sense?

I went totally mad when i found out that there is actually a pattern for this, the only problem that im having is that i dont know what the gauge for this piece is.

yes thanks for the guage 10 dc and 7 rows =4 inches.

Update 2/18/08:  here is my cardigan that i finished today.

That looks fabulous! SHE'S THE BEST CHARACTER EVER hehehe. I made earrings and a butterbeer necklace I just wear on a regular basis and for 90's day at school I was Luna. My principal cancelled most of spirit week including character day, so I figured Harry's from the 90's, right...? Book 5 came out in about 2000 but ah well! I wore all bright colors anyway so it passed as 90's haha. But this cardigan is so awesome and I love the color, awesome job!
