So while my sailor boyfriend was away last summer, I found a t-shirt at Forever 21 that says I <3 Sailors, with Popeye in the heart. I fell in love with it, but they only had it in a small. I bought it anyway because it was too cute, but now, a year later, it's shrunk and it's just too short. I love it to death but I don't know how to make it bigger. If all else fails it can become a pillow, but I really like it as a shirt. Any ideas?

Here's a "lengthened shirt" thread on the recon board!  http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=178906.0

I think if you did the ruffly version with a contrasting colored fabric (maybe one that's on the shirt already) it would be really cute!

I think you have lots of options - you can remove the design and use it as a patch for another shirt (or back of a jacket hoodie), you can take off the neckline and use a new one (in a different color) and use the same material for a bottom band, make it into a tube top, or use the tute Jillie linked to...  I'm anxious to see what you do with it!

So, today I was inspired by this post (http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=184336.0 ). I saw that they had a similar dilemma as I did and she turned her shirt into a tube top with suspenders. Now, I'm not too crazy about suspenders, but I like the tube top idea. I have a ton of coral colored jersey left over from the dress that I made recently which happens to match the heart perfectly. Anyway, here's a picture of the shirt.

Oh!  That tube/suspender idea is adorable!
Here is a random idea I thought of when I saw this.  I thought that some red nautical stripes would go well with it Smiley
