I'm Irish, and my boyfriend is Irish, but he adores America (he's more stereotypically "pro-American" than any of the Americans either of us have ever met  Tongue). So, I decided to make him a patriotic Fourth of July cross-stitch...which was finished very shortly after the 4th of July, but was only given to him yesterday. It's my second cross-stitch ever (I learned so I could make him something), took about one and a half to two days, and is about the size of my hand if my thumb had been horribly amputated.

For anyone who's interested in the back...some of it's actually pretty neat although it doesn't really look it because there are a few loose threads (and obviously a few mistakes):

(It has been blocked although the aida's a little wrinkley so it might not look it.)

Aaaaannd I made my boyfriend take an action shot Grin:

Comments? Constructive criticism? I'd love to hear any feedback  Smiley

PS. Did you know the US has 63 states now? True story.

63 states? How do you figure? Maybe counting the territories the US has.

Anyway, awesome job!!! I know how to cross-stitch, but rarely have the patience for it.

No I didn't count the US territories.  Embarrassed I just know that there's 50 states, so I figured she was including whatever territories the US has too.

I ended up stitching 63 little stars... Tongue So if thirteen extra states just randomly appear, it's all my fault! There are also two extra stripes, but that's the image I copied from's problem, heh. I really wanted to have the right number of stars, but I couldn't get it to work out.

And thank you very much!  Cheesy I found I really liked it, so hopefully I'll do more! (Plus I suck at embroidery sooo...and I find cross-stitch much simpler)

Thank you, I think so too  Cheesy
It was part of my bribe for an action shot, I told him it would give everyone a chance to tell me how cute he is  Grin
And thank you about the cross-stitch too!

Hehe!  Another forum I read has that picture as a smiley, and the little tear is animated to fall down his face.

That's a really great cross-stitch.  Your back looks so much neater than I could have done!
