My ds had to go in some kind of costume today for school. It's been book week all week at school and today they had to go dressed as a book character - the theme is magic. My ds is dino-mad and wanted to go as a dinosaur from the Harry and his bucketful of dinosaurs book - he says that Harry's dinosaurs are magic so he can go as a dinosaur. Who am I to argue?

So at short notice, I threw this tunic thing together. Many many thanks to Vegbee for her scoodie tutorial (did the hood based on her tute) which helped immensely. I used one of ds's jackets , laid it on top of my drafting paper and drew a rough shape then used that to cut the fleece out. I am quite pleased with it - given it's a throw-together!

This is a very simple costume of sorts reconstructed from a brown pet blanket I found in a pound shop and some scraps of turquoise fleece I found in my scrap bag. I cut the fleece blanket in such a way so that the decorative hems for the blanket became the hems for the vest. I hate hemming! So no hemming for me on this one! Yay!!

Here are our action shots - ds was so taken by this tunic, he wore it all evening yesterday and wanted to wear it to bed too! It was the first thing he put on this morning!

I am a dinosaur - hear me roar ...

And from the side ...

He now wants a puppy tunic!
Best go shopping for some dalmation print fun fur this weekend then!

Have a lovely weekend all.
Thank you for looking.

Too cute!  Looks like you're in the "tunic" business now; all his friends will be screaming for 'em!   Grin
