: ) When I was a little kid (yeah, I'm old) my dad had a friend with a original Beetle painted like an easter egg (pics are burried- if I ever find I'll post).

He bumped into something & dented the left front wheel well... did he fix it? Sorta, he painted crack lines going out from it & yolk in the dent and running down. It was the 70's, it was groovy.

I came up with this idea yesterday and I think it's pretty sweet. In fact, this might be the route I take! I tossed around the idea of flames but I don't think they really suit my car and they're a little...ordinary. I definitely want something wild and unique and this popped into my head:

Cheesy TENTACLES! It's still got the look of flames and from far away you might even think that's what they were. I like em a whoooole lot!
(By the way, sorry for the crappy cell phone picture.)

I haven't decided on the colors yet but I was thinking either peach with black tentacles, or black with green tentacles. The tentacles are meant to look silhouetted so I'm not gonna paint the suction cups an all together different color from the tentacles.

The fabric-y ceiling deal is called a headliner. You could google a bit to see if you could find a tutorial for changing it but I think it's difficult to do and have it look perfect with no sagging, etc.  You would have to make sure it was evenly adhered all over the ceiling. I would probably put backing on the fabric I was gonna use and then use a heavy-duty spray adhesive or something but I'm no expert and I've never done it myself.

And photos will definitely be coming your way!

HA HA HA I feel you on the crappy cell phone pics.

Great Idea... I would totally do that to my car!
I think it my work on my baby, 'Blue' as in 'You're my boy, Blue' from Old School.

Thanks for the idea!

H-G, I'm a big cephalopod fan and your silhouetted tentacles are FANTASTIC. I couldn't possibly think of anything better especially in super high-contrast colors -- guaranteed you'll be the only kid on the block.

But where IS your block, because I may just have to paint my Civic something similar... Tongue (Actually, I'm waiting for the custom Gamera airbrush on my scooter.)
