My four year old daughter has declared that all dresses must be "spinny", with skirts that twirl when she spins. This is made from fabric from Joann's--I actually bought it in the fall to make a Christmas dress but then decided the floral was too overwhelming. Looking it over again a few months ago I felt it might work after all and am very pleased with the results.

As you can see, she doesn't mind posing for the camera at all. This is the back of the dress

The pattern is from a Japanese book, ISBN 45791190919. I modified it a bit to make the skirt fuller and added the contrasting band of fabric at the hem.

This so darling!  I bought the same fabric in the fall planning on making a swingy type top. I purchased some fine cordoroy for pants to match.

You did a great job!  You little girl is adorable.  My 4 year old would love the dress!

Super cute!

It's wonderful!  4 yr olds know fashion and you are wise to follow her wishes.  The fabric is gorgeous and good call with the contrast - it ties it all together.

what a pleasing dress! and such a sweet little girl! She is right about the skirts, IMHO! I can see how the fabric *could* have gotten away from you, but you handled it perfectly and it looks just lovely lovely lovely! That band of fabric at the bottom gives it a grace, or reveals it, or?

My DD would call that a "princess twirly" dress.   It's a wonder they don't get dizzy from twirling all day!  Cheesy  Beautiful fabric, I'm glad you decided to use it after all.

Didn't you know there's an unwritten childhood rule that states that "if it ain't got twirl, I'm not wearing it mom."  I love the fabric--you tamed it very nicely into a very lovely dress.
