I usually post over in the purse section and just come here and drool at everyone's cool quilts.  But I am going to be a grandma sometime in August (first granddaughter) and I thought I really should make the baby a quilt.  So I got a really easy pattern and just jumped in.  I have made a few quilted purses but this was totally different.  I got a little off in my measuring and cutting but I am still really happy with how the quilt turned out.

I machine pieced the top and then I had someone else quilt it.  He did an awesome job with the quilting.  In case you can't see it the backing has lots of hearts on it and the quilting is lots of hearts that are interlocking.  Oh and in the very near future there will be a diaper bag to match.  On to the pics . . .

Congratulations on your soon-to-be granddaughter! She is certainly a lucky little girl to have such a talented grandma.

Beautiful quilt!

I found the man to do the quilting through my neighbor.  He just happens to be in our town but he was telling me today that he has people from all over the world send quilts to him to be quilted and then he sends them back after he is done.  I've seen several quilts that he has done for my neighbor and he is really awesome.  Here's his website:  http://www.artfulquiltingservice.com/

The colors are so fabulous.  I have a quilt top that just needs the borders put on that has been sitting in my closet for three or four years.  I really should get motivated to finish it.  My first one a friend machine quilted for me.  I don't know if I'll take this one on or not.

Thanks for inspiring me to think about getting my sewing machine back out.

That's precious.  I love the bright colors.  Really well done.  And your quilter did a beautiful job on it.  I'm always embarrassed to send my quilts to be professionally quilted - I don't want anyone else to see up close how my corners don't match!

Good job.
