hi guys! this is my first ever recon but here is the story!  So when we graduated dare we got huge shirts so that no one would feel bad or anything.  We had to wear them the next day. me being one of the shorter kids well the shirt went down to my knees.. eww plus well here i will just show the picture.

so a week or two ago i realized how long it had been sitting in my pajama drawer (sp?)  so i wanted to make a shirt... or dress. so this is what i came up with.. with the help of two other white shirts.

SO then i wanted a cool back and this is what i came up with!

The straps are a little tight on the shoulders and unless i hold my hands up in the air they stay tight and make the top of the dress pull under my armpits.

comments and criticisms are welcome and are greatly appreciated!  oh i used patterns and ideas from www.whatthecraft.com i used the tube top and then added the side panels because i cut the top really small be accident and then i used the circle skirt variation 1

Dare is a program at middle schools or elementary schools that is supposed to teach kids that Drugs are (which i agree with) but it is proven to have reversing effects and the kids who take dare are more likely to do drugs, sad huh?  I took it in sixth grade and i don't do drugs.  D.A.R.E. stands for Drug and Alcohol Resistance Education.

Ah, thank you for the explanation.  I am from England and hadn't heard of it.  It's strange that education has the opposite of its intended effect.

This is absolutely adorable, I love that you incorperated white stripes up the side to match the dress skirt.  I remember getting *my* dare shirt, it was black, and honestly... Not something I would want to mod.  (Of course this was 9 years ago...)

it's awesome you are starting so young. I had a ton of ideas when I was younger, but my mom is not the crafty type so I never was able to make them happen until I got older and met other people who could teach me. (she does have other outstanding qualities, of course)

wow. that is sad.
i took DARE when i was in the 5th grade- 10yrs old;
and i think that most kids by the time they reach high school forget all of that stuff;
and it would have been more useful in middle school.

my sister's 13 and she says that HALF of the kids in her grade are doing drugs.
=[

anywho- great top!

I hate that everyone seems to hand out such large tshirts! I have more than 20 from high school... The good thing is being able to alter them though. And, you did a great job with that.  Smiley
