Mimsy, I'm really digging that Butterick 4873 jacket  Grin and totally agree with Ceiligrrrrl on Kahlia Ali patterns.
Nothing to add apart from that *lol* my clothing sewing is taking somewhat of a backseat recently, although I really ought to get to work on some pants for winter!

Mim, I agree that M4510 has really intriguing lines.  They lend themselves really well to same colour/different texture fabrics - I'm imagining a fabric which has a slightly different front/back texture working well for this.  I notice it's an out-of-print pattern, but I've decided to set up an eBay search for it in case I strike it lucky - I think I'd sew this one even though I don't have much of a figure for dresses.  For me it might even work cropped and flared as a tunic top.

I also really liked the jacket you chose - it's got a touch of glamour and could be worn on so many occasions dressed up or down.

In keeping with the spirit of this thread let me show you my latest pattern purchase... an out of print Vogue via eBay which I hope to sew up as soon as it arrives:

I see what you mean about those petite plus size patterns MissDisney! A ciouple of the skirts I thought could be nice but I don't know anyone of a curvy shape who looks good in a short square box type jacket.

I just used the 4th one down to make a nightgown for my sister, who is built similar to me. I used a stretchy fabric and it skimmed curves without clinging and turned out very flattering.

I used a Khaliah Ali pattern for my wedding dress, and it worked out beautifully!  It wasn't specifically a "wedding dress" pattern, but I thought it worked =)

Simplicity 4478

We used the size that fit my shoulders, but altered it on the hips because I have the nice*coughihateitcough* triangle shaped body that makes nothing fit correctly...

I've also had good success with the "Today's Fit" line by Sandra Betzina that Vogue sells.  They are very helpful in how to alter the pattern to fit YOU.

Thank you so much!  I was really happy with how things turned out =)

Thanks!  I wanted something besides the traditional white (since I'm already pasty, I didn't want to look dead, and we all know how flattering white is on some bigger bodies), and we found the skirt fabric at walmart on their $1 a yard table *L*  We did go to town on the lace, but it was so worth it in the end!
