I just realized, i forgot to put in the 'next row' instructions... I've corrected the pattern below...

Finally, I have made my own kitty ear hat. Now that its gotten cold down here in Cali, I can use it. Here's a makeshift pattern, i've never really made a pattern before so bear with me.
I just chained(sc) enough to fit my head, then sc 4, then four from the end dc every third stitch till the end.** chain two. DC in second stitch from the end. chain 1. dc in second stitch from dc. continue until end. **(repeat between **, about 13 rows.until it fits your head) It should look like a rectangle. "Sew" ends together, so it looks like a tube. sew the top part together, so you have a square with a closed bottom (like a purse). put your hat on, and find where you want the ears to be. sew (right side out, if applicable) the two sides together where you want the ears to be. finish off the ends!
i've found it equally cute when the ears are just tied in the center of the ears, near the head.

I found the idea for this hat on craftster somewhere. Thanks Craftster!

please ignore my messy desk... my work got ahead of me.
I'm making these for my good friends for xmas, it's a really quick project and it makes you truly giddy while you're wearing it. I think it's at least two hats per 3.5 oz skien!  X :]

Okay, Some questions about the pattern are best helped with pictures.
and on second thought, that picture is small. Here is a bigger picture.

have fun!

Maybe cause i'm new to crochet that your decription of how you made the hat confuses me. lol  Would you be able to lay out a pattern of the hat, my sister-in-law (who's 14) would love one of those.

I had some yucky Red Heart Light N Lofty in black lying around, and I decided that I'd make one of these hats with it.  It turned out adorable.  I gave it to my mother!  She was dubious at first, but wore it around in public, and apparently strangers have been stopping her on the street to tell her how much they adore her kitty hat.  She told me it's her all time favorite hat now.  Nice and warm, despite the big holes, and if you like talking to strangers, a perfect conversation piece.  Thanks for posting the pattern.  Totally simple!

Tell me, are you a badfish too?

This is awesome.  I just joined Craftster, and a kitty hat is one of the very first things I came looking for.  (Long story.)

I live in Massachusetts, so I don't think I will make such an open fabric for mine, but I love the idea of putting a little stitch in the middle of each ear.  Super cute, and so simple.

i just started to get into crochet; great project to keep you occupied while waiting for the bus... I've made a couple scarves, a hat, a flower; simple projects. a friend recommended me here for inspirations, patterns, advice, and I've found this is a great site! really excited to see so many people with such talent and great ideas on some many different topics...  yay! Cheesy

this hat pattern seems really cute, but I'm having trouble following the description (without photos that load) and no one seems to have taken interest since 2009... any new/updated kitty ear hat patterns floating around? help!
