I'm making this sweater (http://www.knittingonthenet.com/patterns/babyswepetal.htm), I've just started and the pattern stitch is confusing me.  The end of each lines says "k2 instead of k1, k3 instead of k2" etc.  I've gotten to that part, and there is only one stitch left... so since it says k2 instead of k1, do I add a stitch?

So far I've just been knitting the one(two, three, whatever) that are left, but I don't want it to end up wonky if I was meant to be adding stitches.

I believe the '___instead of ____" refers to the last direction in the repeat sequence--so you don't add any stitches.  A confusing way to write the pattern.

The standard way to end a row with repeats is to write out the directions for the leftover stitches--in this case, it should have been: k2 *repeats* k1.

So they way you have been doing it is right. Smiley

What it means is that at the end of the last pattern repeat in that row, you do k2. So instead of

*yo, k3, sl1, k2tog, psso, k3, yo, k1; rep from *

the last time you do the repeat it should be:

*yo, k3, sl1, k2tog, psso, k3, yo, k2*

Having that last k2 should mean there's no stitch left after it. It would exactly the same as if it said to do a regular repeat and then just k1 to take care of that last stitch.

2. Some fungi are not edible more than once.

Aah,  thank you!

It IS a confusing way to write a pattern!  But it makes sense, thanks.
