hey - it's great to find this little pocket of crafty kids from melbs - there's a whole other bunch of them that you mightn't know about who knit - find out about 'em all here:

brunswickers - there's the handknitters guild mini wool festival (i think that's what it's called...) the first sunday in june at brunswick town hall - the one last year was really ace with a $1 a ball wool sale and other lush things - highly recommended.

yes! I'm from Melbourne!
but not from Brunswick.
In the spirit of this faaabulous forum, I'm going to tell you my two secret beautiful & cheap fabric sources:
1) the It Inc! outlet in Brunswick st sells Alannah Hill & dangerfield fabrics straight off the bolt, plus trims and buttons. (prolly you knew about that one already)
2)Darn Cheap Fabrics in Heidelberg & Glenhuntly.  Don't be fooled by the crappy name.  I walked past the Heidelberg branch for two years without looking inside, & on the day i finally went in I found pale pink mesh with black polkadots, same one as used in Review summer range, for $2 per metre I kid you not.
I have to go there every weekend now, it's a bit embarrassing.
I'll do some Lincraft bashing too - the Lincraft group is now owned by the Reject Shop company, that is why everything now comes in little plastic packets & the shop is 3/4 full of plastic flowers.
Where else is good  to buy fabric & things?

I'm from Melbourne, too. I live in caulfield, though, which I imagine is a fair way from the rest of you. And I'm only 14...so I'll assume you're all alot older than me, too.

Hi I'm also from Melbourne, almost Brunswick, North Carlton in fact. Just around the corner from Rathdowne Remnants, which has really cheap stuff, a lot of crap, and the occasional gem, and Bloom, which has really expensive stuff, most of it beautiful, and the occasional cheap remnant.
Up for meeting, and I'll email bitten before
