i need a really great basic sweater pattern for a teenage boy who is going to school in connecticut.  i've kettle-dyed some bulky merino wool in colors he picked and the patterning on the swatch is so nice that i really just want a simple, basic pullover, maybe a raglan.  he's 14, but very small, maybe more like a 12 year old, and i'm looking for a nice, comfy, keep me warm kind of pattern.  any ideas for me?

See? I couldn't have done that if I was dead.

I don't have any specific patterns in mind, but here's a link that might help.  It's a list of men's wear, so the sweaters aren't all in one spot, but there are some on there.

Have you looked at Garnstudio/DROPS' free pattern index? They have a lot of patterns for kids, and you can search them by yarn weight, too.

Search the knitty archives...www.knit ty.com.  "Layers" was written by a boy and is in dire need of a chart or argyle...

Knit 2 Together by Mel Clark and Tracey Ullman has a nice hooded sweatshirt in both adolescent and addult sizes.  It's still only $5.50 on Amazon.com, which is the price of a single pattern on a lot of websites.  I love the book... it has tons of great patterns!
